Samsung S34A650: Very crooked UWQHD monitor with 100 Hz and USB-C

With Samsung is a new monitor with 3440 × 1440 pixels in the wings. The Samsung S34A650 delivers the resolution called Samsung UWQHD on a diagonal of 34 inches. The VA panel is comparatively strongly curved in a radius of 1 meter.

All-rounder with gaming features

The Samsung S34A650 is not one of the gaming monitors of the Odyssey family from Samsung, but shares the strong curvature with some of them and also provides a good argument for this segment with a refresh rate of 100 Hz. The VA panel is specified with a high contrast ratio of 4,000: 1, a typical brightness of 300 cd / m² and a color depth of 10 bits (probably with FRC ). The response time should be 5 ms. HDR10 content is supported, but the display does not provide any special HDR suitability or certification. Adaptive-Sync also offers AMD FreeSync and potentially (if released) G-Sync compatibility.

In addition to DisplayPort 1.2 and HDMI 2.0, the connections include a USB-C connection with DisplayPort alternate mode and a power supply of up to 90 watts. The functionality as a docking station for a notebook is extended by three USB-A sockets and a network connection. Loudspeakers are not available, however. The stand allows, among other things, a height adjustment and can also be exchanged using a VESA device.

Obviously for Europe too

The PC Monitors website became aware of the S34A650 through a Vietnamese product page from Samsung. That the display will appear in Europe, suggest various listings commercially on. In Danish shops, for example, the monitor costs around 4,700 Danish kroner (~ $650) if it is expected to be available in April 2021. In Denmark, however, a higher sales tax rate of 25 percent applies, so the price in this country can be lower.
