Lei Jun, CEO of Xiaomi, has confirmed via Weibo that the Xiaomi Mi 11 will not have a charger in the box. The justification for this movement has been, according to Jun, the protection of the environment.
The Chinese company thus becomes the first Android company to confirm the removal of the charger from the box, a controversial movement initiated by Apple with its iPhone 12, which was expected to have an impact on other Android manufacturers.
The Xiaomi Mi 11 will not have a charger in the box
It’s official, Lei Jun has confirmed that the Xiaomi Mi 11 will not have a charger in the box. This has been confirmed by the CEO of the company through Weibo. The main reason for this decision, according to Jun, is to protect the environment, the same reason that Apple used in the presentation of its iPhone 12 and that caused so much controversy.
Along with the publication is attached the box of the Xiaomi Mi 11, which should arrive with reduced measures compared to the Xiaomi Mi 10. As happened with Apple, making a box with less volume allows you to store more boxes on more pallets, something that in turn makes shipping easier , as more mobiles can fit per trip.
Similarly, Apple reported that “there were too many chargers in the world,” so leaving one out of the box would help not generate as much technology waste. In the case of Xiaomi, Lei Jun has generalized with the issue of environmental protection but, with high probability, these reasons will be further developed during the presentation of the Xiaomi Mi 11.
Already in the summer of this year , information came from Korea that Samsung is also going to stop including the charger in the box , so 2021 may be the beginning of the end for the included chargers. At the moment, Xiaomi has only confirmed that the Mi 11 is without this accessory, but there is no news that the rest of Xiaomi models and families will do without it.
