AI PIN: Humane’s first screenless AI device arrives

AI Pin , Humane

Humane, an AI company, has released its first device, the AI PIN. The AI PIN is a screenless device that allows you to interact with AI using your voice and hand gestures.

The AI PIN is a small, wearable device that can be clipped to your clothes. It has a microphone and a speaker, as well as a laser projector that can display information on your hand.

After weeks of rumors and leaks, Humane has just officially presented the first device that falls within what is called invisible technology, designed so that users can interact with different models of Artificial Intelligence, including ChatGPT, without the need for screens. mobile phones, applications or other conventional interfaces.

This is the Ai PIN, a small device that is made up of two parts, the main square-sized part, where it will contain the main elements, and a magnetically attachable battery, allowing users to wear it both on clothing and on other supports.

Searching for its place within a new generation of electronic devices

The device will go on sale in the United States at a price of $699, with pre-orders beginning on November 16 and shipments beginning early next year.

To the indicated price we must also add the subscription fee to Humane, in which for $24 per month a telephone number and mobile coverage are offered through the T-Mobile network.

Ai PIN will be powered by a Snapdragon chip not yet publicly specified and will have its own proprietary operating system called Cosmos, which will be in charge of redirecting requests to the appropriate AI models.

Manual activation required

The device itself will not be actively listening to the users’ needs, so there will be no activation word or phrase. Instead, they must activate it manually through their touch panel to later establish voice requests.

In practice, the AI Pin will be able to manage tasks and summarize incoming emails, allow translations in real time, show the nutritional value of a plate of food (the device has its own 13 megapixel camera and a small projector laser), and little else at the moment, although the company hopes to be able to expand its capabilities, where in the future it will allow browsing the web and making online purchases.

As it could not be otherwise, Humane is also preparing the launch of tools for developers that will allow other integrations in the future. At the moment we don’t know to what extent users will be able to give up what they already know for a device that will function more like an assistant.
