Nintendo has so many classic games in its catalog that since the launch of the Switch it has always been strange that it did not take better advantage of them with a Virtual Console, like the one we saw on Wii or Wii U. With the birth of the subscription service Nintendo Switch Online they began to offer classics from NES and SNES, and now, during the last Direct, those from Kyoto have confirmed that the service will also be expanded with classics not only from the well-remembered Nintendo 64 , but also, with the legendary SEGA Mega Drive .
All these games will be part of a renewed subscription service that Nintendo itself has described as an Expansion Pack , that is, in addition to the current subscription, you will have to pay an extra. In this sense, for now, no details have been given about the price or the release date of the service beyond the end of October .
Returning to the new Nintendo Switch Online catalog , the Big N has shown some of the great classics of N64 among which are the essential Super Mario 64 or The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. In addition to the premiere games, as is currently the case, the catalog will expand over the months with other popular games such as Banjo & Kazooie, F-Zero or the well-remembered Paper Mario. The initial catalog is made up of these games:
- Mario Kart 64
- Super Mario 64
- Zelda: Ocarina of Time
- Dr. Mario 64
- Star Fox 64
- Win Back
- Mario Tennis
- Sin and Punishment
The other protagonist has been Sega Genesis, known in Europe and Japan as Mega Drive, which will also add to the Nintendo Switch Online catalog with a wide variety of games. The starting list is as follows:
- Shinobi III
- Castleania Bloodlines
- Dr. Robotnik’s Mean Bean Machine
