How to upgrade to Windows 11 on an unsupported PC
While we published a video a while ago on how to install Windows 11 without any limitation , both methods only work on a clean installation . Consequently, for those users who want to update to Windows 11 without performing a clean installation, this way is not effective since it will continue to give us the same error.
For this tutorial we are going to use a tool called “MediaCreationTool.bat” , which allows us to download multiple versions of Windows through the Media Creation Tool. In the case of Windows 11, it comes with an additional customization that allows PCs marked as no supported can update without any blocking by the installer. To do this, we must follow the following steps:
- We must download the following file: MediaCreationTool.bat
- Once downloaded, we will execute it and a window will be displayed to select the version of Windows that we want to download and install. We select «11».
- We will have 4 options to choose from. We can create an ISO or a USB with this tool, but it is not the option we are looking for. We want to update an existing installation, therefore we will select «Auto Setup» .
- Windows PowerShell will ask us for administrator permissions to continue. We grant them, the Windows installer will open and the Windows version will begin to download. From here you do not have to do anything , the whole process is completely automatic and no additional interaction is necessary unless the tool requests it.
