Cute cat videos, weird jokes, lots of bare skin and unfortunately one or two inflammatory videos from the right-wing sleazy corner: TikTok offers short videos suitable for (almost) every taste. The service from China is a huge hit, but it is also annoying with lots of advertising. Anyone who no longer wants to/can’t see them has reason to be happy: an ad-free version has appeared in TikTok’s program code. However, there is a catch.
TikTok without advertising for 5 dollars/month?
As portals like AppleInsider report, there is already a version hidden in the code of the TikTok app that switches off advertising. But the uninterrupted video fun doesn’t come for free: TikTok most likely wants to see money for the option. According to reports, the ad-free subscription will initially be available for $4.99/month.
Ad-free TikTok initially only for testers
As part of a pilot phase, the Chinese network only wants to activate the payment option for selected testers. If the whole thing proves successful, we will then discuss the final monthly fee and roll out the function for everyone. When that will be, however, is not yet known.
