Microsoft has recently brought new Windows 10 interface for it’s users. Over the years the design of Windows 10 has evolved and re-evolved. A design that normally implements small changes in different parts of the system to adapt it to the needs and changes of the users. We have seen the recent example with the new Start menu. New signs point to Microsoft preparing a major redesign for the Windows 10 interface, and it is expected to arrive within the next year.
As Windows Central has learned, the 2021 update for Windows 10 will bring a significant update to the design of the operating system interface. This redesign involves changes to the Start menu (again?), The Action Center or the File Explorer among others. What changes? It will be difficult for Microsoft to completely abandon its flat style and solid colors, but we may see different animations, reorganization of items and new functions.
Likewise, it is expected that for users who use touch screens such as those of a tablet or a hybrid there will be changes in the interface. Changes more related to animations and the location of items to make the experience more fluid and comfortable. An example of this is the new touch keyboard with emojis, GIFs and more that already appears in beta versions.
Finally, Microsoft is expected to add dark mode to more parts of the operating system, as well as subtle changes to the rest of the interface to make it more consistent. Anyway we will have to wait to see official news or changes in the betas to better understand what this possible redesign is about.
Windows 10 interface: ‘Sun Valley’, in fall 2021
The project under the codename ‘Sun Valley’ is expected to be rolled out with the Windows 10 update in fall 2021 . This change comes at a time when there are more and more Windows 10 devices different from a traditional computer, such as hybrids and touch or dual screens. Also after Apple introduced its renewed interface in macOS Big Sur this past June.
Apparently it is Panos Panay with his team of ‘Windows Experiences and Devices’ who has taken charge of this new update . With the restructuring of the company in February they also promised major changes in Windows 10 by 2021, maybe those changes are this new design.
