No Man’s Sky is one of the first games to support Nvidia’s DLSS in virtual reality on PC

Until not long ago, we were used to the performance of a game being largely affected by the hardware it was running on. Today, the advancement of technology is making software have an influence too, and one of the great examples is DLSS. This NVIDIA technology allows games to perform better thanks to Artificial Intelligence.

Nvidia periodically updates DLSS compatibility with different video games

In a recent Nvidia blog post, the company announced the 9 games that support DLSS this May. Nvidia is periodically updating the compatibility of this technology with different video games and we can expect that the increase in titles that can make use of it will grow without stopping in the coming months.

The funny thing about this month’s update is that it includes DLSS support for three games that make use of virtual reality, including No Man’s Sky, the Hello Games game. According to Nvidia, the DLSS in this game “doubles the performance of virtual reality on the default Ultra graphics setting, maintaining 90 FPS on an Oculus Quest 2 with a GeForce RTX 3080.”

Above these lines you can see a video of the improvement in No Man’s Sky. The other two games that use virtual reality and are supported by DLSS are Into The Radius and Wrench. Also, the other 6 video games that now support DLSS (not VR) are Amid Evil, Aron’s Adventure, Everspace 2, Redout: Space Assault, Scavengers, and Metro Exodus PC Enhanced Edition.

Without a doubt, DLSS and similar technologies can make a difference in the future in the world of video games, and that it is implemented in virtual reality is a great step for the stability and performance of those games to improve a lot. In fact, DLSS is something that is being talked about more and more in PC releases. For example, Days Gone doesn’t support DLSS out of the box, but it does leave the door open.
