Google has recently started rolling out a long-awaited feature in its own mobile operating system. It is a service that iOS has already been enjoying for a while and that Android is finally going to incorporate it.

The option to delete the last 15 minutes of search history is gradually being extended to Android users. This feature is only available to a small number of Android users at the moment, but Google has confirmed that the rollout is underway right now.

“We are currently rolling out this feature to the Google Android app and expect to make it available to all app users in the coming weeks ,” said Google spokesman Ned Adriance. “We continue to explore ways to bring this useful feature to other surfaces.”

The rollout of this feature on Android devices comes later than expected, as the search giant originally promised to launch it in 2021.

“You can also try a new way to quickly delete your last 15 minutes of saved search history with the touch of a button. This feature is available in the Google iOS app, and it’s coming to the Google Android app later this year.” year ,” the original ad read.

Although no one knows for sure why Google didn’t ship the feature to Android devices as originally promised, it has been around for a long time on iPhones. The iOS debut came in July, just a few months after Google previously announced it at I/O in May.

If you are one of the lucky ones, we will show you how to activate this function on iOS: from the Google app, the user must click on their profile picture and, when a series of options are displayed, click on “My activity”. By doing so, just below where the search history appears, an option that says “Delete the last 15 minutes” will appear from the time.

It should be noted that for its desktop version, however, Google does not offer any similar tool. At this time, the rollout on Android is still underway , so it could be a while before it shows up in the Google app on the mobile device.
